A beginner-friendly Quora walkthrough with screenshots and a GIF you can follow in 10 minutes.

Here is a painful truth about Quora: you can write a brilliant answer and still get zero views if you answer the wrong question. And here is the good news: a single answer on the right question can keep bringing readers for months, even years, and even from Google.

So the real skill is not writing. It is finding the right questions. This guide shows you exactly how to search questions on Quora, filter for recent ones, and spot high-demand questions, click by click.

What you will learn
  • How to search any topic on Quora in 3 clicks
  • How to filter for Recent and fresh questions
  • How to tell which questions are in high demand
  • Where Quora hides the questions people want you to answer
Quick answer: Search a topic, click Questions in the left menu, sort by Most recent, set By time to Past week or Past month, and then prefer questions with few or no answers but many followers. Check the Answer tab for more.

Step-by-step: find questions to answer on Quora

Step 1: Log in to Quora

Open quora.com and sign in. Being logged in matters: filters, the Answer tab and your personal suggestions only show up for logged-in users.

Step 2: Search for a topic you know

Click the search box at the top and type a topic you can speak about from experience, for example B.Tech computer science. Pick topics where you have real knowledge, because Quora rewards honest, experience-based answers.

Step 3: Press Enter to open the results

You will see a mix of questions, answers, posts, profiles and topics. This mixed view is too noisy for finding questions, so we narrow it down next.

Step 4: Click Questions in the left menu

Under By type, click Questions. Now you only see questions, along with how many answers each one has and how many people follow it.

Step 5: Sort by Most recent

Click the sort menu near the top right of the results (it says Most relevant) and choose Most recent. The other options are Most relevant and Least recent.

Step 6: Use the By time filter

In the left menu, scroll to By time and pick Past day, Past week or Past month. If you get no results for a narrow topic, widen it to Past month or Past year, as the screenshot shows.

Honest note: Quora does not have a button called "Top demanding questions". You judge demand yourself using the signs in the next section.

How to spot high-demand questions

Look at the small grey line under each question and check these signals:

  • Followers: the number next to Follow. More followers means more people want an answer, and they get notified when you answer.
  • Answer count: "No answer yet" or 1 to 3 answers is the sweet spot. Your answer can reach the top easily.
  • Last followed or requested: a recent date means the question is still active.
  • Request count: if people keep requesting answers, the question is in demand.
  • Searchable wording: a question that sounds like something people type into Google can also bring traffic from Google.

Step 7: Check the Answer tab (Questions for you)

Click the pen icon (Answer) in the top bar. Questions for you lists questions Quora thinks match your interests. Click Answer to write, Follow to save it, or Pass to hide it.

Step 8: Check Answer requests

On the left of the same page, open Answer requests. These are questions that other people asked you to answer, so someone already wants your reply. Answering these is the fastest way to get views.

Pro tip: Open the same search again every morning with Past day selected. Early answers on new questions collect the most upvotes and views.

How to write an answer that gets views

  1. Start with the direct answer in the first two lines, because the first lines show in the feed and Google.
  2. Add your own experience. A short real story beats a copied definition.
  3. Use short paragraphs and, where it helps, a few bullet points.
  4. Add one useful image or link if it adds value. Avoid spamming links, as Quora can collapse them.
  5. Answer new questions early. The first good answers collect most upvotes.

Common mistakes beginners make

Answering very old questions with hundreds of answers, writing generic copied text, promoting a link in every answer, and not following topics. Fix these four and your reach improves fast.

Yes, creating an account and answering questions is free.

How many questions should I answer per day?
Start with two or three good answers a day. Quality matters more than volume.
