Focusing on yourself gets easy if you start thinking in terms of your daily goals.
I think this could help:
Start setting a goal on a daily basis. When you wake up in the morning, set a goal for yourself to accomplish for that particular day.
Think about the 'goal' and 'tasks' that you wish to accomplish and you will soon realize that you have stopped thinking about other people and started to think about yourself and how you can improve your life.
