If someone gave me the chance to turn back time and fix one mistake in my life, I know exactly what I would change. I would stop taking other people’s words so seriously and start listening to myself more.
For a long time, I gave my time, energy, and availability to people who never valued it. I was always there for others sometimes even leaving my own work and priorities aside just to make sure they were okay. But later, when I looked back, I realized: what did I really get out of it? Most of the time, nothing but disappointment, frustration, and regrets.
As human beings, we all want a little love, respect, or acknowledgment in return. But in my case, I gave without thinking, and when nothing came back, it hurt. Over time, I understood that this was one of the biggest mistakes of my life.
Now, I try to live differently. I still help and support people, but I do it without expecting anything in return. At the same time, I’ve learned to protect my own peace by not involving myself in everything. Spending more time with myself has made life calmer and more meaningful.
Another mistake I realized is comparing myself with others. In today’s world, I feel 90% of people are trapped in jealousy, ego, and endless comparisons. And honestly, comparison has never given me anything except stress, anxiety, and a restless mind. The truth is, each of us has been given a unique life, and individuality is what we must embrace.
So, if I could turn back time, I would fix these two mistakes:
- Taking others’ words too seriously instead of trusting my own voice.
- Giving my time and energy to people who never valued it.
But since time cannot go backwards, I’m learning from these lessons and moving forward with a clearer mind and a more peaceful heart.
