Honestly? Yes. And I'll tell you why I think that.
We live in a world that's obsessed with excellence. Every Instagram reel, every LinkedIn post, every motivational quote is screaming at you be extraordinary, be the best, hustle harder. And somewhere in that noise, we've started treating "average" like it's a disease. Like being ordinary is something to be ashamed of.
I disagree.
I'm not exceptional at everything. I know that. And I've made peace with it. I write decently, I think decently, I live a fairly regular life. And most days, that feels completely fine. Because here's the thing nobody tells you you cannot be excellent at everything. That's not how humans work. Your energy is finite. Your hours are 24. Trying to go full throttle in every direction doesn't make you extraordinary. It makes you burnt out.
Being average at something just means you're allocating your energy honestly.
Now and this is important I'm not saying be average at everything and stop caring. That's just laziness dressed up in acceptance. There's a difference between being at peace with your average and being comfortable with your worst. One is self-awareness. The other is self-deception.
Pick the things that matter to you. Go hard there. Let the rest be average. Let yourself be a decent cook, a mediocre driver, an okay dancer and still call it a full life.
The girl in that Quora answer I read recently said something that stuck with me she's average, she knows it, she's still trying, and she's still grateful. 1.2K upvotes. Because people are tired of pretending.
Average, when lived with intention, is more than enough.
