Is Newton School of Technology worth joining? My honest opinion as a 2026 student (Hyderabad Campus)
I joined Newton School of Technology (NST), Hyderabad (St. Mary's University) in the 2026 batch after researching several private engineering colleges. Like most students, I had the same questions: Is NST worth it? Is the degree valid? What about placements, internships, and campus life?

Here's my honest perspective.
The first thing to understand is that NST is not a university. It delivers the industry curriculum and skilling, while the B.Tech degree is awarded by the partner university. In Hyderabad, that's St. Mary's University, and academic operations and degree awards are managed by the university.
What attracted me was the learning approach. Instead of waiting until the third year to start coding seriously, the curriculum is designed around coding, AI, projects, hackathons, and practical learning from the beginning. There is a strong emphasis on building a portfolio rather than only preparing for semester exams.
That said, NST is not for everyone.
If you're looking for a traditional engineering experience where you can mostly study before exams and still do well, you may find the pace demanding. Here, you're expected to learn consistently, work on projects, participate in hackathons, and keep improving your technical skills.
One concern many students have is placements. My advice is not to judge any college only by advertised numbers. Instead, look at student projects, internship experiences, hackathon participation, GitHub profiles, and the learning ecosystem. Those usually tell you much more about the environment than a single placement statistic.
Since I'm joining the Hyderabad campus, I know it's newer than some of the other campuses. That's naturally something students ask about. For me, I focused more on the curriculum, mentorship, and learning opportunities than whether a campus already had multiple senior batches. If you're considering Hyderabad, I'd recommend visiting the campus yourself, talking to current students, and attending the counselling session before making a decision.
Overall, if your goal is to become a strong software engineer, AI engineer, or developer and you're willing to put in consistent effort NST is worth considering. But don't join because of marketing or placement promises. Join because the learning model matches the way you want to build your career.
If you're comparing NST with VIT, SRM, UPES, or other private engineering colleges, I'd recommend comparing the curriculum, projects, mentorship, internship ecosystem, and student outcomes not just the college name. That's likely to give you a more informed basis for your decision.
According to latest update: final year students are getting PPOs and with average of 23LPA and one known student have got 20LPA recently from internship to full time. as founding engineer which is really exciting for us and for me who aspire to be one. :) hopefully i would also want to do great projects and crack one PPO soon while studying at Newton school of Technology…
