- Read nonfiction.
- Watch TED talks and TED-Ed.
- Learn a language. And not just Japanese or Spanish or whatnot, but a programming language, such as C++ or JavaScript.
- Cut down on social media. Toss away Instagram or Twitter or Facebook. No one is interested in your ex’s sister’s wedding.
- Research. Anything from history to alcohol to human anatomy to famous serial killers.
- Play smart games. Chess is nice. Or poker.
- Make a What I Did list, and write down what you did today. It boosts your productivity or else it will remain blank, and self guilt will kick in.
- Hang out with smart people.
- Keep up with current events.
- Listen to podcasts or audiobooks.
