Night owl. Always.
Look, I get it. Everyone glorifies the 5 AM club. Wake up early, crush your goals, be productive before the world wakes up. And honestly? I've done it. When I'm going on a long ride, there's something magical about waking up before 6 AM, getting ready in that quiet darkness, and leaving while the world is still asleep. The roads are empty, the air is different, and it feels like you're stealing time from the universe.
But that's the exception, not my rule.
Most days, I'm a working professional juggling a full-time job and preparing for JRF. My brain doesn't wake up at 8 AM ready to conquer differential equations or research papers. It wakes up groggy, annoyed, and desperately needing coffee. But at night? That's when everything clicks.
There's something about the silence after 10 PM that I can't replicate during the day. No emails. No calls. No distractions. Just me, my books, and actual deep work. The world shuts down, and I finally feel like I can think. My most productive hours are between 11 PM and 2 AM, and I'm not apologizing for that.
People say night owls are lazy or undisciplined, but that's bullshit. I need my sleep proper sleep or I'm absolutely useless. So I plan around it. If I work till 2 AM, I'm sleeping till 9 or 10. That's non-negotiable.
The truth? Both work for me, depending on what I'm doing. Adventure mode? Early mornings win. Work mode? Give me the night. I've stopped forcing myself into routines that don't fit just because productivity gurus say so.
Your brain has its own rhythm. Find it. Respect it. Whether you're Team Morning or Team Night, the only thing that matters is that you're actually getting things done and not destroying yourself in the process.
So yeah, I'll take my peaceful nights over forced early mornings any day.
